On October 7, 2023, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed two new climate disclosure bills into law. The new laws will impact thousands of private and public companies. Both laws have reporting requirements, and the Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act requires assurance over greenhouse gas emissions information. The reporting and assurance requirements start as early as 2025.
